Windstream Launches Online Backup to Help Customers Save and Share Valuable Files

July 15, 2009

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Windstream Corp. (NYSE: WIN), a high-speed Internet, phone and digital TV provider, announced today its new online backup and file sharing service designed for residential and small business customers.

In a recent Parks Associates survey, 43 percent of U.S. households were creating their own digital content and capturing digital memories to be stored and shared with family and friends. Unfortunately, only 6 percent of broadband households are backing up their files to a safe and secure remote location, according to additional research from Parks Associates. With vulnerable computers and customers' growing volumes of files, Windstream recognized the need for an easy, affordable way to secure, store and share important digital assets.

"We chose Radialpoint's comprehensive solution because it aligned with Windstream's vision of providing services that customers want with simple, easy-to-use technology," said Roger Woziwodzki, vice president of strategic business development at Windstream. "Providing customers with Windstream's Online Backup service ensures that their digital media and files are safeguarded and preserved."

Windstream's Online Backup consists of two integrated components. The Backup Manager provides safe online storage of multiple users' important files, including photos, videos, music and documents, and makes restoration an easy process in the event of data loss. Another key feature, the Personal Media Manager, allows Windstream broadband customers to conveniently access their files from anywhere they have an Internet connection and share content with family and friends.

"We are pleased to partner with Windstream, a company that shares our vision of the digital home in providing a portfolio of value-added services that enhance a customer's technology experience," said Singu Srinivas, vice president sales and marketing at Radialpoint.

Windstream Online Backup is now available to residential and small business customers where Windstream broadband service is available. Customers can bundle the product with Windstream's Security Suite service.
